Visitors!

The 6th to 13th of April I had my mother and my sister Ylva visiting me here in Romania. We ate Mamaliga and sopa de galuste in our Dabuleni kitchen, went to a market in Sibiu and ate hotel breakfast to the sound of club music, we had rain and hard winds in Brasov, visited a not so scary Dracula Castle in Bran and found a very cool second hand in a basement in Rasnov. We discovered that the Black Sea is just as cold as the one around Sweden in April and that Constanta isn't so nice before tourist season because everything is closed. We lived in hotels, hostels, with my host family and in a rented apartment. We had our last day in sunny Bucharest and ate ice cream in the old city. We took photos but mostly we just spend a great time together and I tried to talk to everybody in Romanian. Hugs and kisses and a donated wheelchair from Sweden, blisters on my toes and white and chocolat in the bed planning the summer. I love you and I can't wait to see you when I get home.

Fruit and Vegteble market in Sibiu
Sibiu - Here the weather was actually quite warm
From "the Liars Bridge" at Piata Mare (Stora Torget) i Sibiu

Draculas Castle in Bran, and the obligatory tourist market of course

The inner courtyard of the Castle - It was a very nice place and we wondered wheather it would be a good summer house for us in the future...

Bran Castle

A quick stop in Rasnov, and I found a very colourful sleeping bag for Vama Veche and Hultsfred for less than 5 Euros
Brasov - One of Transylvania's (and Romania's) greatest cities
Brasov - The first school of Romania
Constanta - Industry area
The Black sea and the Casino of Constanta

In Romania they do this minature green house thing with old PET-bottles, we will try to steal the idea for our balcony

An Ortodox Church in Bucharest and a Mosque in Constanta (the most important one in Romania according to my Lonely Planet)

We just like markets
The Cismigu Garden in Bucharest

A part of the Parlament Building - The second biggest admenistrative building in the world after Pentagon
The last day I waved goodbye to my family and spent on my own. It was great weather so I spent most of the time in the park with my book and music, wandered the streets of the Old City and in the night I met some nice Erasmus students from Turkey and drunk red wine in an bar that actually played great music

tisdag 3 april 2012

Because spring has come to Dabuleni

Today we had 30 about degrees outside, the trees are blossoming and I've got a really sexy sun burn from spending some hours ouside. Not bad, not bad at all.

Team Dabuleni, Crishofer, Marion, me and Luis. On our way to help out in our host familiy's garden, but Aurel wasn't there and it was locked so we went to cook some lunch instead.

Our beloved grandpa' and his pisica. Spring spring spring.

Brasov, Sighisoara och Sibiu

After coming back from Sweden last week we went on another training in Predeal, which is a ski resort in the mountains. The traing was not much to chear about but it was nice to see the people we'd met on our on-arrival training again. After this Marion, me and Jutine decided to go on a trip to hitch hike to some cities in Transylvania. We visited Brasov (very beautiful and close to "Draculas castle"), Sighisoara (midmidieval town) and Sibiu (the city where the roofs have eyes).

Brasov, notice the "Brasov" wanna be "Hollywood" sign on the mountain in the background

 Brasov, Piata Sfatului

 Brasov

Brasov, the most narrow street of Europe. Here with our couchsurfing host Alex

Brasov,we took the cable car up the mountain

Brasov, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful nature of Transylvanian mountains

Brasov, the place where we'll all end up one day...

Moving on! Actually it was hailing this day, the weather was crazy in Brasov

 Sighisoara

Sighisoara, old ladies in the sun gossiping

Sighisoara, walking up the mountain to the graveyard for a nice view

Sighisoara, I think this is my favorite city in Romania so far. Especially nice without tourist and with some grey weather to set the mood (of course we were very happy when the sun decided to show up)

After one day we went on, getting some help to hitch hike

Sibiu, piata mica, here with the daughter of our collegue Luis' host. Her name is Olivia and she was nice enough to show us the town.

 Sibiu, city of the pigeons?

 Sibiu, many beautiful buildings

Sibiu, the bridge of lies.

Sibiu, the houses were very cool and it was like each one of them had it' own character.

Sibiu, because we came just before tourist season many things were under construction

 Sibiu, titt-ut

Sibiu, many lovely streets to get lost on

We also met these great people on the street after we had had lunch, actually they were many more. Some hugs from a happy bunch of strangers on a rainy day made me surprisingly happy. Keep up the good work!

Unfortanitly we were very tired and the weather wasn't to good so we decided to leave Sibiu the same day after just a few hours (also because we didn't have anywhere really good to sleep). So bye bye, see you next week!
